One activity that seems to popular among tourists is shopping. When you visit a new place, you like to have a memento of your trip. And sometimes, you may just want to check out the different types of stores that are available in a new city. San Diego is one such city.

San Diego provides several outdoor shopping centers that allow you to soak up the warm sun while you shop. You’ll find a variety of boutiques, outlet stores, antique shops, and home furnishings. There are also several historical shopping centers located throughout the city that offer specialty stores, bookstores, and gourmet goodies. The San Diego Visitors website provides a varied list of stores you can discover while in San Diego.

One shopping center you’ll want to be sure to check out is Seaport Village. With more than fifty shops to choose from, you’ll find everything you’re looking for from clothes for the whole family, a variety of souvenirs, and gifts. You’ll find plenty of places to relax from your shopping by the lagoon, at the marina, or in one of several different eateries. You can even find great outdoor attractions throughout the year.

Another great location for enjoying a day of shopping is the Gaslamp Quarter. Here too you’ll find a variety of shopping from clothes to jewelry to gifts to books, as well as a variety of dining and entertainment venues.

Shopping on a Budget

You’d be surprised at the amount of people that spend more than they should. Shopping is a huge problem many people face. Even if you spend a little bit at a time, the total amount you’ve spent is going to add up… and fast.

It’s important to have some sort of a budget when going on shopping trips… even to the grocery store. Having a budget will help you spend less so you don’t end up in a financial hole.

First, decide what you want your budget to be. The budget can be either monthly or bi-weekly to go with your paycheck. Also consider a budget for your groceries. Using coupons and taking advantages of sales is a great way to help save some money. You’d be surprised at how quickly these savings will add up.

Go generic. You don’t always need to buy name brand items; nine times out of 10 the generic will taste the same. Some generic brands offer the same quality as name brand, but for almost half the price.

Shop at places like Costco and Sam’s Club. You could save and even get more for your money. This option is ideal for larger families. Often times when your purchase items in bulk (socks, shirts, etc), you will end up saving more money.

Come up with your own system to make sure your bills are being paid on time. Getting organized will help make sure everything is paid on time. Take a look at the due dates and organize them accordingly with when you get paid.

By shopping on a budget, you’re helping yourself stay out of financial trouble.

The Peace That Comes From Shopping

One of the first thoughts to come to any vacationer’s mind is the peace they will enjoy just taking a break from everything. When you want to relive memories of the peace you experienced on an enchanting trip, you can look at photos taken during the trip and admire the things you bought while you were there.

San Diego Restaurants

San Diego has a diverse culture. This diversity has created hundreds of restaurants with cuisine choices to meet any palate. If you are on a budget, you will find wonderful restaurants at moderate prices. San Diego also has numerous unique four-star restaurants. Whatever type of food you are looking for, you will find it in San Diego.

If you love seafood, you will find a number of wonderful seafood restaurants. Most of the offerings are from local waters. The seafood you eat may have just been caught in the morning. If you happen to be downtown you will want to by the Blue Point Coastal Cuisine. This restaurant is located in the Gaslamp District. You will enjoy amazing martinis and exceptional seafood. The menu also includes non-seafood items such as lamb, chicken and beef.

One of San Diego’s most refined and elegant restaurants is Le Fountainebleau. The restaurant is located in the beautiful Westgate Hotel in downtown San Diego. The restaurant is known for its exceptional French cuisine and its opulent decor. On Friday evenings, you can enjoy a wonderful seafood buffet. This is also a fantastic restaurant to go to for a classy Sunday Champagne brunch.

Before you begin your day, you will enjoy breakfast at Jimmy Carter’s Cafe. This restaurant is not associated with the former President. This restaurant offers favorite American breakfast foods and international foods such as Mexican tortilla casserole or Indian crepes. This is a fantastic restaurant to enjoy a hearty breakfast.

Things to Do in San Diego

San Diego is a big city for tourism, and visiting large cities is often expensive as far as vacations go. This does not mean that you have to drop a lot of cash to enjoy everything that San Diego County has to offer. There are dozens of things that you can do in San Diego without spending much money if any at all.

San Diego is home to a wide variety of different beaches, and all are completely free to the public. Enjoy swimming and surfing, collect sea shells or play in the sand while enjoying the warm San Diego sun. Visit the La Jolla cove and enjoy the sunset. La Jolla Cove is known to be one of the most spectacular settings along the California coast. After spending the day at Torrey Pines beach hang gliding or collecting sea shells you can head into the Torrey Pines State park for a picnic. Torrey Pines is also known for spectacular birdwatching, so bring your binoculars.

Go downtown and visit the Seaport Village to explore leisurely strolling, window shopping and free entertaining. Seaport Village is one of many places throughout San Diego where you can experience free live music and plenty of other entertainment. At the Spreckels Organ Pavilion, for example, you can listen to free organ concerts every Sunday.

On the first Wednesday of each month you can visit the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center in San Diego’s Balboa Park to stargaze for free. Thanks to the San Diego Astronomy Association you can view the stars through a huge telescope for free. Balboa Park offers numerous other fun and interesting things to do, including 15 different museums, public organ concerts, daily park tours and all kinds of spectacular gardens. Many of these events are free to residents or on select days throughout the week.

There is no shortage of things to do, see or enjoy in San Diego for absolutely free.

The Famous Pink’s Hot Dogs is Invading San Diego.

The famous Pink’s Hot Dogs is invading San Diego in November. Harrah’s Rincon Casino and Resort one of San Diego’s most popular destination is the place for Pink’s newest restaurant. Pink’s has been visited by Hollywood celebrities, big name politicians and hot dog conosur for years. Richard Pink, president of Pink’s, is happy to bring the Zagat rated hot dogs to San Diego’s residents and tourists.

You can see Pink’s in publications such as, The Los angels Times, The New York Times,and on the Food Channel and Travel Channel. The restaurant is featured in many of Hollywood’s movies and television shows.

The Harrah’s site is 1,000 square feet and will seat 46 people. You can find it in the Sports Pit Area of Harrah’s Casino. Pink’s features their famous hot dogs, burgers, and some unusual side dishes. There’s the Stretch Chili Cheese Dog and the 12-inch Jalapeno.

Martha Stewart and Rosie O’Donnell have their pictures signed on the wall at Pink’s in LA. You can sample a Martha Stewart (hot dog), mustard, relish, onions, chopped tomatoes, sauerkraut, bacon, and sour cream. Take a bit of Rosie O’Donnell (Long Island Dog), a 10″ dog topped with mustard, onions, chili and sauerkraut.

Janet Beronio, general manager of Harrah’s Rincon, is excited to bring the casinos’ guests with a great variety of dining and entertainment options. She thinks Pink’s, with their high public exposure and history of providing excellent food and fun, is the perfect partner. Beronio thinks San Diego’s citizens and tourist will be thrilled to have Pink’s in their home town.

The most famous hot dog establishment in the world, Pink’s, was founded by Paul and Betty Pink in 1939, has been serving Los angels residents the famous hot dog with a snap. There is often a line that can take up to 2 hours to sample their menu of over 30 varieties of hot dogs. Pink’s in LA, stays open until after 3a.m.

Located in Southern California, San Diego was once a small town located in the area which is now the Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. San Diego offers visitors a plethora of sights and sounds, including the gardens and museums of Balboa Park and one of the largest naval bases in the United States. San Diego has it all-landmarks, shopping, dining and nightlife.

San Diego Landmarks

The Coronado Bay Bridge functions as the gateway to the city of Coronado and the North Island Naval Air Station. The California Tower, which is located in Balboa Park and part of the Museum of Man, stands as an example of the Spanish Moor architecture that is popular throughout the region. With its bright red cars, the San Diego Trolley serves as a widely-used form of public transportation and a symbol of the city. You will find the Cabrillo National Monument and Point Loma Lighthouse at the tip of Point Loma, a picturesque peninsula that forms San Diego Bay.

San Diego Shopping

The Gas Lamp Quarter offers several city blocks of shops in the downtown area. The Victorian National Historic District provides an old-world ambience with boutiques, cafes and galleries. Old Town San Diego Historic Park also features a number of retail shops.
