Currently, there are over 25 museums located throughout the city. Here are some of the popular museums you should visit during your stay.

San Diego Museum of Art

The San Diego Museum of Art is one of the oldest museums in the city of San Diego.  It features the artwork of Spanish, Asian, and American artists from the 19th and 20th centuries.  In addition to displaying art, it also offers educational programs such as summer camps, art classes, and dance classes for both adults and children year round.  Each year over 250,000 people visit this museum.

Mingei International Museum

The Mingei International Museum is another popular San Diego museum that has been operating since 1978. It features art pieces from over 140 different countries.  One of the popular exhibits at the museum featured the culture of the Kazakhstan’s people, which has now moved to a Kazakhstan Democracy. General tours are available daily to visitors throughout operating hours based on a weekly schedule.

San Diego Natural History Museum

The San Diego Natural History Museum was started in 1974. It features exhibits that teach its visitors about nature and the environment in California. Like other museums in the area, they offer public programs to children and adults to learn more about different types of nature and its environment.  This museum also has a theater that plays nature movies available in 3D as part of the admission price.

One activity that seems to popular among tourists is shopping. When you visit a new place, you like to have a memento of your trip. And sometimes, you may just want to check out the different types of stores that are available in a new city. San Diego is one such city.

San Diego provides several outdoor shopping centers that allow you to soak up the warm sun while you shop. You’ll find a variety of boutiques, outlet stores, antique shops, and home furnishings. There are also several historical shopping centers located throughout the city that offer specialty stores, bookstores, and gourmet goodies. San Diego is a place full of variety and various things to do and see. The very prominent feature of San Diego is its beaches. It has more than seventy miles of beaches. You could imagine how much of San Diego is at the beach and how much is on land!
San Diego has got a moderate temperature all year round. You will not huff and puff in sweaty conditions while on the beach or anywhere.

As mentioned above San Diego is full of beaches. You have so many miles of beach surface area. You can your own private entertainment sessions in certain areas of the beach. On account of the length of San Diego’s beaches, most of them are less crowded. You can spend quality time at the beach. Just you and the sea.

Taking Kids to San Diego

3—Balboa Park: San Diego has the largest urban cultural park in America. Not only are there leisure paths and gorgeous landscapes, but the park features over 25 museums and other intriguing attractions ranging from astronomical to horticultural. The Visitor Center conducts free guided tours on Friday afternoons and there are free Sunday organ concerts. The museums also offer free entrance on Tuesdays on a rotating basis. 4—La Jolla. This is a quaint, romantic town by the sea. Although the shops are expensive, window-shopping and gallery gazing are enough to feast your eyes. It is an unforgettable experience and you will love the views and seeing the tide pools.

Old Town San Diego State Historic Park

San Diego is the second largest city in California and the eighth largest city in the Country. For over 10.000 years, the Kumeyaay Indians inhabited this beautiful area of California. There is a great deal of Spanish influence in this city. The first European to visit the area was Portuguese-born, Juan Rodriquez Cabrillo. He claimed the bay for Spain and this lead to the influx of Spaniards.

To experience the early history and culture of San Diego visit the Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. This amazing park features historic buildings from the early 1820s through the 1870s. The park features museums, shops and restaurants. Entrance in the park is free and the museums are free as well. This is a fantastic place to spend the day. You can watch several living history plays and take advantage of several free tours.

For those that love ghosts and ghost stories you will want to visit the Whaley House. This wonderful historic landmark and museums is said to be haunted. The grounds were said to be haunted prior to the house being built. The earliest documented sighting of a ghost was in 1852. Since then hundreds of sightings have been experienced. Even today, many of the museum employees report strange activity and paranormal experiences.

You can also visit the Heritage Park Victorian Village, which is adjacent to Old Town. Several historical buildings were moved to this area from other parts of the city. It currently contains seven historical buildings that date from the 1880s to the 1890s.

Old Town is one of the most popular tourist attractions in San Diego. This is a wonderful way to spend the day visiting historic sites and shopping the wonderful boutiques and shops. You will find a wide variety of places to eat and relax in this stunning location.
